Ballerina Ballroom Cinema of Dreams

Last Friday we were given quite a treat when we entered the utterly enchanting Ballerina Ballroom Cinema of Dreams - the venue a disused ballroom which im sure must have many a story to tell, having played host to greats such as Pink Floyd and The Who, amongst others, now has a new story to tell.

The actress Tilda Swinton has set up this alternative film festival in her home town of Nairn, Scotland. This is no ordinary festival- the entry is only £3 (and you dont have to be famous or wear a ballgown!) and even better is that you can settle yourself down amongst all the other cinema goers on a lovely comfy beanbag.. what better way to watch a film! The films are old classics, the sort that you want to watch but never seem to get the time. I love old black and white movies- they are really quite whimsical and fun (well the ones i have seen are) and really do lift the mood.

Back to the venue- well it has been decked out with mirrors and drapes... the lights are Chinese lanterns and the cafe area full of home baking (take some home baking and you get in for free!).
Its great to see a building come back into use and proves that a little injection of fun and imagination is all you need!

Plus, we had an another A-lister in town- Jefferson Hack was quite happy to bunk down on the beanbags with the rest of us mignons!
